Nahrein Network Visiting Scholarship Scheme 2020: Call now open

We are pleased to announce that the Nahrein Network’s Visiting Scholarship Scheme is now open for applications for residents from Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Turkey.   

The Joint Visiting Scholarships Scheme enables academics, cultural heritage professionals, and NGO workers to visit the UK for 1-2 months for training and research. The initiative aims to enhance the capacity of scholars to engage in the sustainable development of cultural heritage, antiquity and the humanities in their home countries to better serve local, post-conflict needs.  

CBRL are pleased to be part of the recently expanded Nahrein Network that is funded by a grant from the AHRC Global Challenges Research Fund and is based at University College London (UCL), the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr, and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. 

Visiting scholarships for successful Lebanese applicants will be administered by CBRL

The deadline for receiving applications for this round is 15th February 2020.   

A final round will open in spring 2020 for a 15 August 2020 deadline. 

The Visiting Scholarships Scheme is run jointly by the Nahrein Network with: The British Institute for the Study of Iraq (BISI); The Iran Heritage Foundation (IHF); The Council for British Research in the Levant (CBRL); The British Institute at Ankara (BIAA).
