CBRL and the University of Leicester (UoL) are delighted to announce a two-day hybrid workshop to be held at the UoL and via Zoom.
About the workshop
The Levant experienced fundamental social, political and cultural changes during the Middle Ages. Many of these changes were connected to, and thus reflective of, the wider regional and ‘international’ developments, from the spread of Islam to the emergence of the Crusaders and the dominance of Italian merchants.
Against this background, this workshop seeks to explore how connections with the Levant help shaped the historical trajectories in regions such as the Middle East, eastern Mediterranean and the Silk Road. More specifically, the workshop will focus on investigating themes that are of crucial importance to understanding the interconnectedness of the Levant and its surrounding areas.
