Our Trustee, Professor Timothy Insoll, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours List 2025 for services to archaeology in Bahrain and UK/Bahrain relations.

In addition to being a Trustee and Al-Qasimi Professor of African and Islamic Archaeology in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter, he is the Honorary Archaeological Advisor to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.

He said: “I am delighted to be honoured in this way which I also see as recognition for all the effort of my friends and colleagues who have worked with me in Bahrain”.
