We are thrilled to share the news that Levant, CBRL’s long-established journal on ancient Levantine studies, has been ranked 33rd out of 300 journals listed under Archaeology (A&H) in SCImago Journal Rank for 2018.
This is a significant achievement given that, with only a few exceptions, the top 25 journals in this ranking consists of ‘global’ archaeology journals or archaeological science journals. This is Levant’s second highest position on SCImago rank having been in 29th position in 2015. Since 2012 Levant has continuously been in the top quartile of Archaeology and History journals.
The SCImago Journal Rank is a publicly available portal that includes the journals indicators developed from the information contained in the Scopus® database (Elsevier B.V.). The SCImago Journal ranking considers three different data sets based on research performance, innovation output, and societal impact. Citation data is drawn from over 34,100 titles from more than 5,000 international publishers.
Levant is CBRL’s journal that deals with the past (Palaeolithic to Ottoman) of the Middle East and last year marked the 70th year of its publication. Featuring a range of disciplinary perspectives including anthropology, archaeology, history and heritage studies. Prospective authors are encouraged to contact the Honorary Editor, Professor Graham Philip (Durham University) to discuss potential submissions.
