The British Mandate in Palestine (1922-1948) CBRL Event Series

The CBRL Kenyon Institute (KI) is pleased to announce a series of events marking the centenary of the British Mandate in Palestine (1922-48).

This series, set to take place throughout the autumn of 2022, includes:

  • Four online lectures, organised from Jerusalem
  • One in-person lecture at the University of Edinburgh
  • A three-day conference co-organised at Birzeit University with six local, UK and international research centres

The conference includes 64 academic presentations on the theme of Reassessing the British Mandate in Palestine, with two panels (eight papers) specifically addressing the theme of archaeology during the Mandate.

We are delighted to present a rich programme of events that encourage transparency, critical enquiry and debate on this period within the spirit of CBRL’s mission to make the fullest possible contribution to fostering knowledge and understanding of the Levant, for the common good.

All events will be recorded and made available via CBRL’s website.
